10 Things I Hate About You Cameron And Bianca

10 Things I Hate About You Cameron And Bianca

Okay, so I know it’s a classic. And yes, 10 Things I Hate About You is genuinely a great movie. But let’s be real for a second. There are just some things about the characters that… well, they get under my skin a little. And today, I’m feeling brave enough to share my slightly (okay, maybe very) unpopular opinions.

We’re diving deep. Into the lives of Cameron and Bianca. The swoon-worthy couple that the movie wants us to love. But sometimes, my love is just… not there. It’s like trying to love Brussels sprouts. I know they’re good for me, but…

1. Cameron’s Initial Plan.

Seriously, Cameron? You’re a new kid. You like a girl. And your first thought is to bribe her sister’s boyfriend to date her? That’s… a lot. It feels a little manipulative, even if it’s for what he thinks is a good reason.

I mean, there are other ways to get to know someone. Like, I don’t know, talking to them? Or maybe just being yourself? This whole elaborate scheme feels a bit much for a first impression.

2. Bianca’s Total Obliviousness.

Bless her heart. Bianca is so caught up in her own world. She genuinely doesn’t see what’s happening around her most of the time. Especially when it comes to her dad’s rules.

She’s constantly complaining about not being able to date. Yet she’s also kind of oblivious to the extent of the drama her father is creating. It’s like she’s living in a bubble, only popping out when it’s convenient for her.

3. Cameron’s Persistence (It’s Borderline Stalking).

Look, I get wanting to impress someone. But Cameron is really going for it. He’s showing up everywhere. He’s orchestrating things. It’s a lot of effort to win someone over who you barely know.

At times, it feels less like charming pursuit and more like… well, let’s just say he’s very, very dedicated. Maybe a little too dedicated. My comfort level starts to waver a bit.

4. Bianca’s Entitlement.

This is a tough one. Bianca wants so desperately to be out there. She wants to date and have fun. And who can blame her? But there’s a sense of entitlement to it. Like she deserves to be dating everyone.

She gets so frustrated with the rules. But she also seems to think the world should bend to her will. It’s a bit of a self-centered perspective. Even if she is young.

5. Cameron’s “Nice Guy” Vibe (Sometimes).

Okay, I know this is a controversial one. But sometimes, Cameron’s actions feel like they’re coming from a place of “I’m being so good to you, you owe me something.” It’s the subtle expectation that because he’s doing all these grand gestures, Bianca should fall for him.

It’s the “nice guy” syndrome. Where doing nice things isn't just being nice, it's an investment. And I don't love that underlying assumption. I prefer genuine kindness for kindness' sake.

6. Bianca’s Lack of Self-Awareness About Her Own Hypocrisy.

She’s all about freedom and going out. But then she gets upset when her sister, Kat, is also trying to have a life. Bianca wants what she wants, but she doesn’t always apply the same logic to others.

It’s a classic case of “do as I say, not as I do.” She complains about rules but then gets annoyed when someone else is also trying to break them. It’s a bit of a double standard.

7. Cameron’s Almost Too-Perfect Persona.

He’s the new kid. He’s charming. He’s smart. He’s musical. He writes poetry. He’s… perfect? It’s almost too perfect. It makes him feel a little less real, a little less relatable.

While I appreciate a good romantic lead, sometimes a few more flaws make a character more endearing. Cameron is so polished, it’s like he stepped out of a magazine. I’m waiting for him to trip or say something awkward that isn’t part of the plan.

8. Bianca’s Manipulation of Her Dad.

Look, her dad is overbearing. We get it. But Bianca’s constant pouting and dramatic sighs feel like a deliberate tactic to wear him down. It’s a form of emotional manipulation.

She’s not exactly having honest conversations. She’s playing the victim to get what she wants. And while her dad’s rules are ridiculous, her approach isn’t exactly groundbreaking or admirable.

9. The Entire "Pay for Her Date" Scenario.

This whole plot point. Cameron has to pay Joey to take Bianca out. So he can then impress her by… saving her from a bad date? It’s so convoluted. It feels like a plot device that’s more complicated than it needs to be.

Couldn’t Cameron have just, you know, asked her out? Or befriended her and built a connection slowly? This whole convoluted scheme is a bit much for my taste. It’s the dramatic irony that’s supposed to be funny, but it’s also just… a lot of work.

10. Their "Love Story" Feels a Bit Forced.

Ultimately, the romance between Cameron and Bianca feels… rushed. It’s built on a foundation of schemes and misunderstandings. While the movie is charming, their connection feels a bit less earned.

I want to believe in their love, I really do. But sometimes it feels like they’re supposed to be together, rather than them genuinely falling for each other organically. It’s a cute story, but these two characters just… sometimes make me roll my eyes. And that's okay!
