Bishop Visits Taft to Install Rev. Huggard Nov. 16
The Rt. Rev. Jerry A. Lamb, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin, will be in Taft Sunday, November 16, for the purpose of installing the Rev. Linda Huggard as Vicar of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Everyone is welcome to attend the service and to welcome Linda to the city of Taft.
The service will begin at 5:00 pm in St. Andrew’s Church, located at the intersection of Woodrow and Fifth Streets.
A Hint of Class Grand Opening Monday Nov. 17

Alpha House Spaghetti Dinner Nov. 20
The Alpha House will hold a spaghetti dinner fund raiser on Thursday, November 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 631 North Street. The cost is $5 per person. Tickets are availbale at the door. You are invited to dine in or take out. For more information, please call 763-4357.
Chamber Trout Fishing Derby Saturday, Nov. 22 at Lake Buena Vista
The Taft Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its annual Trout Fishing Derby at Buena Vista Lake on Saturday, November 22 at 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a $1000 Grand Prize for the heaviest Trout caught, with another $1,000 in additional prizes. The lake will be stocked with over 5,500 lbs of trout for the event. For more information or to sign up, call the Chamber at 765-2156.
Toys for Taft Motorcycle Poker Run November 29
Toys for Taft will hold a Motorcycle Poker Run on Saturday November 29th at 7:30 a..m. starting at the Chilled n Grilled Restaurant at 621 Center Street in Taft. Pleae bring 2 unwrapped toy and 1 can of non-perishable food or a $25 donation.
2008 “Together We Can” Holiday Food Drive Starts Now!
The “Together We Can” Collaborative is organizing their annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive for local families. You can help by donating checks to purchase food and turkeys or by donating food. Non-persihable food may be donated now until Nov. 21, Monday - Friday at the Westside Community Resource Center at the Fort, 915 N. 10th Street, Ste. 34 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Frozen turkeys can be donated on Monday, November 24. Please notify the Resource Center of how many turkeys you will be donating. Checks should be made payable to “Together We Can”. For more information, to voluteer or to arrange collection and distribution of food within your organiztion, please contact the Resource Center at 915 N. 10th St., or by calling 765-7281.
