The Cougar Corner Bookstore is owned and operated by Taft College. It is located off the Taft College campus at 515 Finley Drive in the Pilot Plaza. The Cougar Corner Bookstore not only supports the needs of Taft College students, it offers services through our online store, and ships to distance learning students in all areas of the country.

The Cougar Corner Bookstore is unique in that many textbooks are available to students on a rental basis. This is in direct response to our students' concerns about the rising costs of textbooks and our institution’s commitment to student success. The program allows Taft College students to take advantage of our textbook "rental-option" when obtaining books for a growing number of courses. If a textbook is designated as a "rental-option" title, students have the option of purchasing the textbook or renting. The bookstore is working with Academic Divisions and Faculty to make as many titles available for rent as possible. The program has become a great success with the support of faculty, campus administrators, and students. The Taft College textbook rental program has been heralded throughout California as well as other parts of the United States and used as a model for others in the college store industry looking for ways to help students reduce the cost of textbooks. The college has supported the rental program to provide an incentive to students making decisions regarding which college to attend. Throughout the years, the fact that we offer this unique program has been appealing to both parents and students. Over the course of two years, the rental program can save students hundreds of dollars. The rental fee is derived by determining 25% of the retail cost of each textbook. For even greater savings, students have the option of purchasing an ASB sticker to receive further discounts on their textbook purchases and rentals. We do offer a textbook buyback program where we offer to “Buy Back” textbooks for up to 50% of the original value.

Not only does the Cougar Corner Bookstore carry a full line of Taft College apparel and imprinted items, we carry many “Taft” t-shirts and sweatshirts in Taft High and Lincoln Jr. High school colors in order to accommodate all of our local community. In addition, the Store carries a wide variety of office supplies and some reference and trade books. We also offer UPS shipping services.

We are open to the community and welcome everyone to come in and take a look around. You don’t have to be a Taft College student to shop with us. Also, we are happy to help with any special orders that you may need.
