“Timber!” John Jackson of Westside Memorial Services located on 4th Street discovered his palm tree behind the mortuary on fire on Thursday. The Kern County Fire Department put out the tree fire and an adjacent grass fire in the creek, and chainsawed the burnt palm tree down.
