Taft Sportsmen’s Club receives grant money
July 31, 2008
For the past six years the Taft Sportsmen's Club has been the recipient of the Taft Friends of the NRA grant. On June 19, 2008, the 2008 NRA Dinner & Auction was held at OT's Cookhouse, and the Taft Sportsmen's Club was again the recipient of another grant from the FNRA in the amount of $4,800. The Taft Friends of the NRA is a chapter of the National Rifle Association with Gary Morris heading up Taft's chapter. On hand to present this grant check to the Taft Sportsmen was Jason Quick, the area NRA representative, and Gary Morris, President of the Taft Friends of the NRA. The President of the Taft Sportsmen's Club, Tom Brown and Sue Brown, Secretary, are shown accepting the grant check. This grant will be directed to Taft Sportsmen's Club annual Junior Pheasant Hunt that will be held on November 15 and 16, 2008. This donation to this Taft club is in recognition of the their long standing commitment to firearms training and hunter safety for the youth of the Westside. The grant money presented to this club was the result of the very successful NRA dinners that are held each year in Taft.
