El Jacalito Mexican Restaurant, formerly known as Cali's Restaurant, opened in November of 2009. El Jacalito has been around since 1980 with their first and main location in Lamont. Owner, Miguel Garcia is proud to serve the Taft community with good food, service, and prices! Miguel has worked in the restaurant industry since 1974 and hopes to credit his success here in Taft from his experience as well as the original El Jacalito menu that customers have grown to love. Some favorite dishes include Camarones Cancun and Enchiladas Sarape along with the home made corn tortillas that they make daily. Miguel's restaurant history includes General Manager at El Torito in Bakersfield from 1985-1988, running his own restaurant in Bakersfield, Garcia's Mexican Cuicina, working for Mauricio's Restaurant in Bakersfield from 2000- 2009 to opening El Jacaltio in Taft. Once the current location of El Jacalito became available in Taft the owners of the building, which have been long time friends of the owner of the El Jacalito in Lamont, notified the Lamont location of the vacancy and they contacted Miguel to open a second branch of El Jacalito. Miguel jumped on the opportunity after seeing great potential in the location and in Taft. Miguel runs the restaurant with his son, Hector Garcia, his sister in law, Selia Garcia, former colleague at El Torito, Jose "Pepe" Galvez, and Juan Perez. Visit El Jacaltio at 101 B.
