Taft City Manager To Hold Press Conference On Grand Jury Findings Thursday, February 18
City Manager Criticised by Kern County Grand Jury, Plans to Repond to Findings
February 17, 2010
Taft City Manager Bob Gorson has announced he will hold a press conference at Taft City Hall on Thursday, February 18 at 2 p.m. to respond to findings made by the Kern County Grand Jury critical of Gorson's performance as City Manager.
On Tuesday, Gorson released a copy of a letter addressed to Kern County Superior Court Judge Michael Lewis stating that he was disappointed with the contents, findings and recommendations of the report, but that he would respectfully support and implement the policies.
In the letter, Gorson also related that he had a number of inappropriate and contentious telephone conversations with Grand Jury members during the investigation of the City Council.
Gorson wrote that telephone conversations with the two Grand Jury members were "stern and harsh in tone", and that one juror told him that if he had his way, he would "give it to you as a Christmas present".
"I found the entire conversation with Larry and Warren to be inappropriate at best and perhaps unethical and intrusive at worst." Gorson wrote.
