Taft Camera Club Photo Contest Winners On Display At TC Library, Library Hosts Open House On Tuesday

Winning photograph prints from Taft Camera Club's recent Wonderful World of Photography photo contest are now on display at the Taft College Library and will be available for public viewing throughout the remainder of the month.
An Open House honoring all of the winners will be hosted by the Friends of the Library in the Cougar Room of the Library Tuesday afternoon. February 9th. from 4:00 to 7:00. The public is invited to attend. The library is located at 29 Emmons Park Drive.
Open to all residents of West Kern County, the contest welcomed entries in five categories: People and Critters, Doing Things, Going Places, Other Stuff, and Oil Patch. The Taft Camera Club wishes to express its appreciation to Mr. Samuel G. Shaw, past-president of the San Joaquin Valley Camera Club Council and nationally and internationally recognized judge of photographs for judging all of the contest entries..
Winning photographs on display include the Best of Show - Prayers at Snow Mountain by Christina Karlen. Category winners included People and Critters: 1st - Jessica Frey, A Beautiful Package, 2nd - Hilda Bravo, Zebra Kiss, 3rd - Mimi Collins, Elephant Seals, 4th - Jessica Frey, Kids in the Bunkhouse, Honorable Mention - Christina Karlen, Snake Wine, and H.M - Joy Bello, Adrian At The Park. In the Doing Things category: 1st - Mimi Collins, Return To Oxford, 2nd - Hilda Bravo, Celebration, 3rd - Hilda Bravo, Today I Marry My Best Friend, 4th - Christina Karlen, Tour Guides, H.M. - Mimi Collins, Inspection, and H.M Christina Karlen, Hill People of Fuchaum.
Additional category winners included Going Places: 1st - Jessica Frey, A Striking Presidential Pose, 2nd - Greg Anderson, Blue Mosque - Istanbul, 3rd - Mimi Collins , Monterey, 4th - Hilda Bravo, Bridlewood Winery, H.M - Christina Karlen, To The Lake, and Mimi Collins, Amador Causeway. Also - Other Stuff: 1st - Christina Karlen, Prayers at Snow Mountain, 2nd - Christina Karlen, American Native, 3rd - Mimi Collins, Stonehenge, 4th - Joy Bello, Grapes, H.M. - Hilda Bravo, Motherhood, H.H. - Hilda Bravo, Sisters. In the Oil Patch category: 1st - Hilda Bravo, Maricopa Sunset and 2nd -Jessica Frey, Oil Patch Evening.
