The Taft College Men's Soccer Team made the state finals 3 out of the last 4 years led by Coach Angelo Cutrona (above).
Over the past several years, the men`s soccer program has accomplished much. During the past four seasons, the team has accumulated an impressive record of 75 wins, 18 losses, and 10 ties.
This year Sergio Cedano was named Midfielder of the Year for the Central Valley Conference, while Christian Hernandez was named Offensive Player of the Year. Miguel Ibarra has been nominated MVP for the CVC and nominated All American.
In 2007 the Men's Soccer Team won the State Championship, and placed Number 2 in the nation.
This year, the team is ranked nationally, and came in second place at the state Championship Tournament in Sacramento on December 6th.
Several soccer players have continued on to universities such as UNLV, UCI, CSULA, and CSUB. The coaching staffs` efforts are aimed toward those athletes who wish to continue both their athletic and academic careers at the university level. The men's soccer program is designed for those student athletes who believe that hard work and dedication is a means to success.
"My goal was to challenge the team day in and day out," said Coach Cutrona. "The team's goal was to accept the challenge. They did it, they met the challenge, and exceeded expectations."
