4th of July Fireworks Show Saturday 9 p.m. at Franklin Field

The Westside will celebrate the 4th of July in traditional style with a grand old fireworks show at Franklin Field this Saturday at 9 p.m. thanks to the Taft Chamber of Commerce, several business people and local employers. Bob Hampton of Westside Waste Management made the fireworks show possible by donating the last $8,000 needed to put the show on this year. Other generous donor making the show possible include United Security Bank, McKittrick Waste Management, Joyce Properties, Kelly Black, Chevron, Area Energy LLC, The City of Taft and Elk Hills Power.

Pete Gianopolis to be Honored at Kern County Board of Trade Dinner Wednesday July 8th

Local historian Pete Gianopolis will be honored next Wednesday evening in Bakersfield by the Kern County Board of Trade for his contributions to the history and longtime long time excellence in promoting Kern County and the Westside. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, 1930 R Street in Bakersfield. Congressman McCarthy Announces Mobile Office Hours July 8th

A Field Representative for Congressman Kevin McCarthy will hold office hours in Taft on Wednesday, July 8th.

“Mobile office hours are a great opportunity for residents to speak with a representative from my office, receive answers to their questions, and access constituent services,” said McCarthy. “I strongly encourage residents to utilize these office hours to receive the help and assistance we can provide.”
