Maricopa Gets New Police Chief
July 3, 2009
Officer Gene Fretheim will be replacing outgoing Chief Paul Stotesbury who recently moved out of state.
Officer Fretheim is from the Los Angeles area and brings an impressive career of 24 years experience as a Los Angeles Police Officer.
Chief Fretheim worked in all aspects of law enforcement and will be a great asset in Maricopa. The Department presently has two full time police officers, Curtis Jue whom began his career here in Maricopa and was one of the original officers hired, and Todd Backer one of our new officers.
In addition the city also has one reserve officer, Augustine Valdez who is working part time.
Maricopa is actively recruiting more officers to fill the vacancies left by the departure of two officers in the last two months.
Chief Fretheim is currently working to improve both the appearance and quality of the community by strict code enforcement.
The removal of trash and abandoned automobiles will be a priority.
June 23rd through the 3rd of July has been designated as clean-up Maricopa week and all rubbish, appliances, green waste, metal, lumber and most anything else can be disposed of in the city.
Exception are hazardous materials like motor oil, batteries, propane cylinders and paint must be disposed of properly at the hazard waste facility located in Bakersfield, there is no charge to drop off the items.
